Frequently Asked Questions
How is SGPA calculated in AKTU?
SGPA = Σ(course credit × grade point) ÷ Σ(course credits) for all subjects in that semester. Each grade maps to points: A+ = 10, A = 9, B+ = 8, B = 7, C = 6, D = 5, E = 4, F = 0.
How do I convert AKTU CGPA to percentage?
AKTU's official conversion formula is: Percentage = (CGPA − 0.75) × 10. For example, a CGPA of 8.5 equals (8.5 − 0.75) × 10 = 77.5%.
What is the minimum passing grade in AKTU?
Grade E (4 grade points, 40-44 marks) is the minimum passing grade for a subject. Grade F (below 40) means the subject must be repeated as a carry over paper.
What CGPA is required to get first division in AKTU?
Using the official conversion, 60% corresponds to a CGPA of 6.75, so a CGPA of 6.75 or above is first division. A CGPA of 8.25+ corresponds to 75%, often used as the distinction/honours cutoff.
Is SGPA and CGPA the same thing?
No. SGPA (Semester Grade Point Average) covers one semester. CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) is the credit-weighted average across all semesters completed so far.
