Boeing India Engineering & Technology Center (BIETC) is based in Bangalore, India and is engaged in the development of advanced aerospace and aviation technologies and software products. We are looking for a Principal Software Architect for TechOps portfolio, Digital Aviation Solutions, based in Bangalore India. The candidate must have a broad technical background with experience in modernization and leading a portfolio of legacy monolithic applications to become distributed, cloud native, software solutions. The candidate needs strong technology leadership, analytical skills, teamwork, and excellent communication skills. The candidate will need to communicate at different levels in the organization to other technical personnel, business leaders and customers. This role will drive innovative, evolutionary, reliable, scalable solutions that advance maintenance efficiency and sustainability in the aviation industry. Position Responsibilities: Partner with the TechOps Portfolio /business and technology leaders to understand the business needs that drive technology decisions. Create and execute a technology modernization roadmap for the TechOps portfolio by working closely with business, technology leadership, and other architects on execution. Focus on modernization of legacy, monolithic applications, and architecting innovative, greenfield applications. Select strategies, patterns, practices and approaches for modernizing and refactoring legacy applications and enable product teams to adopt, all while continuing development and maintenance on existing applications. Design applications to be adaptable, cost-optimized, cloud-native SaaS technologies in a globally distributed, multi-platform environment. Leverage your knowledge and experience to make technology decisions that drive innovation and agility while minimizing risks and costs. Ensure that product modernization is done in compliance with the DAS Architectural Standards and Practices. Assist in evaluation of products for being well-architected and well-managed. Work closely with Information Security Office and Enterprise Cloud to ensure security standards and regulatory compliance minimum requirements are adhered to. Employer will not sponsor applicants for employment visa status. Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience): Bachelor’s degree or higher in IT related field or equivalent. At least 15 years of experience in Software development and architecture in a highly regulated industry At least 10 years of experience working and executing with software development design patterns, methodology and life cycle At least 5 years of experience working with legacy technology modernization and refactoring techniques such as domain driven design (DDD), event storming, strangler fig, transitional architectures, etc. At least 5 years of experience bringing distributed, cloud-native, API and Microservices architecture including service orchestration into production. At least 5 years of experience with application performance management technologies, diagnostics, and issue resolution management At least 5 years of experience in development frameworks, cloud native technologies and tools, such as CI/CD pipelines, UML, Java, .Net, Docker, Kubernetes, JavaScript, AWS/Azure Cloud At least 5 years of experience with delivering High Availability (HA), resilient solutions that meet regulatory requirements and information security standards Proven experience leading a globally distributed team Proven experience to research, advise, compare and recommend technology solutions ability to demonstrate and maintain method of keeping current on new technologies Desired Skills (Preferred qualifications): Knowledge of well architected principles Strong interpersonal, communication and organization skills Experience with enabling an organization centric targeted to business outcomes Ability to inspire and lead other architects and business partners through technology transformation Typical Education & Experience: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 18 years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Master + 17 years’ related work experience.)
