Job description: Job Description Job Summary The Engineering Test Department is part of the Engineering development team. This team works hand in hand with the development team to validate/verify their work product. The test department is responsible for the design, development and execution of manual and automated test cases that are used to validate the features and functions in development. The test department will collaborate with Development Engineering and Product Management to develop their test strategy. All test activities will be executed according to project plans and schedules, while adhering to defined quality requirements and reported through established tracking tools and systems. Duties and Responsibilities Manage the Engineering Test Department Direct team in the analyzation of product requirements from a customer viewpoint and translate into test plans and test cases Develop department budget for necessary test equipment to execute test plans. Oversee and participate in the development of test plans, cases and conditions to ensure effective test coverage based on product requirements and industry standards If needed, execute test cases, at black box, grey box, and white box levels Oversee the creation of testing best practices Mentor and collaborate with the team to develop test procedures, processes and best practices Work closely with Development leadership and Product Management to develop an applicable test approach and strategy for both specific products and product lines Ensure the test team is executing their tasks and assignments according to project plans, to meet schedule, resource and quality requirements Oversee the logging and tracking of defects using the designated tracking system and tools Participate in peer and external reviews Participate in the development of test project goals, scope, estimates and plans Oversee the training of team members on the development and execution of test cases Work with Development and Product Management to prioritize software defects and determine associated root cause/corrective actions Mentor and guide other team members to support overall team objectives Identify risks and dependencies of the product and subsystems, prioritize the effort, and deliver the project on time and according to milestones, specifications and defined quality standards Engage in test result analysis and test report creation Help develop cooperative relationships between the test team and individuals/groups that interface with the test team Knowledge and Skill Requirements Proven demonstration of leadership skills Proven experience leading test team. Either in managerial role or strong leadership role. Solid cross-group collaboration skills and have a history of working with internal partners on technical issues. Strong analytical skills and decision-making capabilities. Proven verbal and written communications skills in English. Problem solving skills and the ability to work with senior leaders to establish strategies. A solid working knowledge of metrics and models in product quality engineering. Established expertise in test methodologies and techniques Demonstrated command and experience working with Test and Defect Management/Workflow tools Familiarity with Software Development Life cycle (SDLC) and testing process Experience with command line protocols such as BASH Experience in configuring, troubleshooting, and testing TCP/IP and UDP based network devices Experience in network protocols such as DHCP, SNMP, IPMI, SMTP, and LDAP a plus Experience with remote IT management technologies such as RDP, VNC, and SSH a plus Working knowledge of relational database technology and SQL Experience in deploying can configuring VMs (virtual machines) within a VMWare and vSphere environment. Strong understanding of database architecture/concepts Strong understanding of Linux operating system is a must Experience in Agile/Scrum development methodologies Experience with SOA principles desired Experience in code development (C, C++, C#, Java, etc.) is a plus Experience working with REST APIs (Postman scripting) is a must Experience in scripting languages (VBScript, JavaScript, Perl, Python, Shell, etc.), is a must Experience in using testing automation tools (like RFT, QTP and other test automation tools), is a plus Experience with applications built on ADF/Flex, Oracle Fusion, Java desired Experience with the test automation technology and automated test tools (TestComplete, HP-Quick Test Professional, IBM-Rational Functional Tester, IBM-Rational Performance Tester, HPLoadRunner) Experience with industry standard SOA test automation tools such as AdventNet’s QEngine, Crosscheck Networks SOAPSonar, iTKO’s LISA, Mindreef’s SOAPscope Server, Parasoft’s SOAtest. Education and Experience Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Computer Science or Related Technical Field and 17 or more years of related experience, or Master of Science in Engineering, Computer Science or Related Technical Field and a minimum of 12 years of related experience
